Who we are

Greyhound Care and Adoption of North Carolina, Inc., may be newly established (2024), but our passion for greyhounds spans decades. Our board members and volunteers have dedicated years to caring for and advocating for these remarkable dogs.

With deep experience in greyhound care and adoption, we are committed to providing support to both current greyhound owners and those looking to welcome a greyhound into their family.

Our mission is to ensure every greyhound finds a loving home and receives the care they deserve.

  • Charlotte Eby-Peinert has been involved with greyhound adoption since 2007, after adopting ABAR Snip in Wisconsin. She has also worked with other breed rescues, but for her, greyhounds are the best dogs ever! From 2015 to 2021, she served as Treasurer and President of Triangle Greyhound Society, supporting efforts to raise awareness about greyhound adoption, and rehoming hundreds of retired greyhounds from the US, UK, and Ireland. Prior to devoting her life to the care and adoption of retired racing greyhounds, she worked in IT/Networking professionally for 25 years.

David’s project management skills were instrumental in launching GCA-NC.

He and his wife Elizabeth devote much of their time to GCA-NC and are frequently found at events with their greyhounds Wuggie and Fletch.

Besides serving as Secretary of GCA-NC, she fulfills other roles as well: legal counsel, approving adoption and foster applications, importing dogs, fostering dogs and assisting with planning and putting on events. Elizabeth and her husband David have two greyhounds, Wuggie and Fletch, and devote significant time and effort toward furthering the organization’s goals.

  • Rose Miller adopted her first Greyhound, Simone, in 2007 and has gone on to adopt an additional eight greyhounds. Rose currently lives in Raleigh with her husband and four hounds, Levi, Roxy, Piper and Pumpkin. Rose, and her husband Stephen, are heavily involved with fostering hounds from both West Virginia and the UK. She works directly with new adoptees during the transition process and, as a dog sitter and walking advisor, she works with many long time Greyhound owners too.
