Our Greyhounds – Meet Lilly
Estimated Arrival – 10/15/2026
From our partners in Ireland, before arrival, we have been told that Lilly is a very sweet and happy girl. She bounces around full of energy and up for
fun! At home in the kennels, she is outgoing and boisterous. Out walking in public,
she is a little quieter and needs a bit of time to warm up to new people. With
reassurance and patience, she soon comes out of her shell and laps up the attention.
Her confidence will grow the more she gets out and about. She is still learning
about life outside the kennel routine. Although her face is grey, Lilly has a
youthful exuberance. She enjoys a good zoomie. One on one she is super friendly
and lovable. She loves attention and cuddles.
Lilly has been to a horse show, which was quite a busy environment. Here she met
some children, and while apprehensive at first, she soon lapped up the
attention and cuddles. She was mannerly and gentle. With calm reassurance, Lilly
will grow in confidence with each outing. On occasion she will get a bit spooked
but she soon recovers.
Lilly loves travelling in the car and waits at the door to jump in. She enjoys her
walks, but is probably happier in a rural environment. She is a bit intimidated by
loud traffic and noise. She still has a prey drive, so small dogs running loose will
attract her attention. She can get a bit excited. One on one, she is happy to meet
other dogs on the lead though.
While Lilly was not used to children while she was racing, she has recently met
some children and enjoyed their company. She was a little shy at first but soon
enjoyed ear scratches and cuddles. She was very gentle with them. She would find
loud and boisterous children intimidating though. She could possibly adapt to a
home with older, dog savvy children. They would need to be understanding of her
gentle temperament though.
Lilly is still learning how to interact with other dogs. Loose dogs running will
cause her to react, but up close and one on one she is happy enough to chat. Again,
this will improve with each encounter. She needs a muzzle for introductions at the
moment. She has met small dogs and tolerated them once they were allowed interact calmly and in a calm, controlled environment. Out walking she does not show much interest in larger dogs.
Lilly is a happy go lucky girl. At home she is confident and relaxed. Out in public
she can be a little shy, but with an understanding owner, she should overcome this.
She just needs more socialization for her to relax and show her bubbly personality.
Her confidence grows with every outing.
Lilly will thrive in a calm household. She really enjoys the company of people and would love to have someone home for most of the day. She is used to the busy kennel environment so
does not like to be left by herself for too long. She would probably enjoy the
company of a calm, large dog.
She enjoys the quieter life! She has lots of energy and enjoys her walks (although she is still
scanning the area for rabbits to chase!). She has a lot of love to give and once she
settles in to her new home, her sweet personality will shine through. She will need
patience and time to help her settle. She will be a very loving and loyal pet.
